Get Out On A Vermont Dog Sled Adventure!

Vermont Dog Sled AdventureIf you love dogs, snow, and the great outdoors, then you’ll have the experience of a lifetime on a Vermont dog sled adventure!

Last post, we talked about the all the amazing Vermont skiing opportunities. This time around, we’re here to tell you that skiing isn’t the only way to get out into Vermont’s winter wonderland. Not by a long shot!

Along with skiing, Vermont also offers many opportunities for snowshoeing, ice skating, sledding, sleigh rides, and fatbiking. One last winter sport that you don’t hear a lot about – but that is an amazing experience – is dog sledding.

Hearing “dog sled,” one’s mind tends to go to Alaska’s legendary Iditarod race. That, or perhaps to an abstract vision of some lone trapper mushing dogs through a blizzard in the frozen north. Wouldn’t it be great if, from now on when you hear “dog sled,” you could think of your own experience aboard one?

What many folks don’t realize is, you don’t have to go to Alaska or back in time to enjoy a dog sledding experience. In fact, Vermont is home to a number of dog sled tour companies, including one quite near our Woodstock VT B&B!

Don’t Miss Plymouth Folk and Blues Festival 2018!

Plymouth Folk and Blues Festival 2018Plymouth Folk and Blues Festival 2018, at the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site in Plymouth, VT is coming up! Labor Day Weekend, September 1st and 2nd, 2018.

The Plymouth Folk and Blues Festival is an annual, two-day series of concerts held each year on Labor Day weekend. The event is free to attend and held in the open air on the grounds of the President Calvin Coolidge Historic Site.

2018 marks the 14th year for the festival and, once again, the lineup includes a selection of both regional and national performers.

This year will see Julia Mark, Seth Adam, Cricket Blue, Alice Howe, and Dan Weber. Jay Ottaway and the Ramble return this year both as performers at the festival and as hosts of the Saturday Night Jam Session in Bridgewater, VT.

On Your Marks For the Covered Bridges Half Marathon 2018!

Covered Bridges Half Marathon 2018The 27th annual Covered Bridges Half Marathon, Vermont’s premier half marathon, is just around the corner: June 3rd, 2018.

Vermont’s popular, annual Covered Bridges Half Marathon, “the best 13.1 miles in New England,” is held every year on the first Sunday in June. The race course starts at the Suicide Six Ski Area and follows a point-to-point course eastward through open farmland, along the Ottauquechee River. The finish line is at the Quechee Polo Field. The Covered Bridges Half Marathon is a USATF-certified course.

The race’s course takes runners through three of the area’s 7 covered bridges: Middle Covered Bridge, Taftsville Covered Bridge, and Quechee Covered Bridge.
