Vermont fall foliage and covered bridgesWe’re nearing the end of the season of the peak for Vermont fall foliage but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still beautiful out there, especially with all the wonderful covered bridges in our neck of the woods!

One of the nicest things about the Woodstock, Vermont area is that it’s always scenic. Even the worst days of weather have a hard time spoiling the view. Some say it’s the gently rolling countryside that makes the area so picturesque. Others point out our historic and friendly communities. Then, of course, there are the area’s numerous covered bridges.

We tend to see the area’s beauty as a combination of all these things and more – but those covered bridges are really neat looking, aren’t they? This is especially true when they’re surrounded by Vermont fall foliage.

The ShackletonThomas Workshop Store in Bridgewater, VT is housed in the picturesque, 180-year-old Bridgewater Mill. Inside, you will find showroom, Furniture Workshop, and Pottery Studio. Visitors can peruse the exquisite offerings in the showroom as well as watch pieces being handcrafted to life through the windows of the workshop.

ShackletonThomas specializes in making fine handmade furniture, pottery, and accessories the old fashioned way: one by one and with extensive handcrafting. They are one of the few companies of this size in the country that still manufactures goods this way. Quechee Gorge Fall FoliageAutumn is just around the corner and with it comes leaf-peeping season. Vermont is known for its gorgeous fall foliage. That’s no truer anywhere in the state than at Quechee Gorge State Park.

Is there anything more gorgeous than autumn In Vermont? Stunning reds, golds, browns, oranges, and every other iteration of tone in between interspersed with green. Add quiet country roads, quaint covered bridges, and good, earnest people and you’ve got a fall foliage lover’s paradise.

There are an endless number of Vermont drives, hikes, and bike trails a person could explore during this (or virtually any) time of year but one of the first that comes to mind is Quechee Gorge.

The covered bridges of Vermont are picturesque and often historic masterpieces of Yankee ingenuity. Their beauty naturally draws the eye – and the curious! Getting out on a covered bridges driving tour in Vermont is a wonderful way to spend the day and, in many parts of the state, incredibly easy, too.

Woodstock, VT is not only surrounded by covered bridges, we even have a couple right here in town! As a result, we’ve created a list of covered bridges within an hour of our Vermont B&B. A list that includes the longest two-span covered bridge in the world: the Windsor-Cornish Bridge!
